Edison Defense Shuts Down Ocean View

Share

Edison’s overwhelming defense held Ocean View to six yards in the first half of a 34-0 homecoming victory over the Seahawks at Westminster Stadium Friday night.

Paul Chalabian led the Charger defense with five tackles behind the line of scrimmage as Edison improved its record to 5-4, 3-3 in the Sunset League; Ocean View remained without a victory in nine games this season.

The Edison defense set up the first Charger touchdown when a fumble recovery by Kyle Murphy gave the Chargers the ball on the Ocean View 32. Quarterback Todd Belitz powered his way from the one to cap the seven-play scoring drive and Kevin Bever connected on his first of three conversions to give Edison a 7-0 lead.

Edison’s second scoring drive covered only 30 yards with Adam Cancelleri scoring from the one. The Chargers increased their lead to 21-0 on a six-yard scoring pass from Belitz to Timon Jeske with three minutes left in the first half.

The Chargers scored on a nine-yard run by Chet Van Horn in the third quarter with Clint Olivier making the extra point and added a touchdown in the fourth quarter on Jeremy Simmons’ two-yard scoring run.
