World IN BRIEF : LEBANON : 4 Guerrillas Killed in Israeli Bombing
Two Israeli warplanes bombed a hide-out of the Shiite Muslim group Hezbollah in southeast Lebanon. Police sources said four guerrillas were killed in the bombing, which set off a round of rocket attacks on Israel and its self-proclaimed security zone. The tit-for-tat attacks continued into the night. Israel and its allied militia in southern Lebanon responded to the rockets with artillery shelling of Lebanese villages and an attack by helicopter gunships. The fighting occurred the day before Arab-Israeli peace talks were scheduled to resume in Washington.
