GM to End Production of Two Cars: General Motors Corp. said it has canceled plans to redesign two of its best-selling mid-size cars, the Buick Century and Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, and will end production of the vehicles after 1996. The move puts GM’s 4,360-employee Oklahoma City plant in danger of closing. GM spokesman Peter Ternes said the company would continue to explore options for future production at Oklahoma City beyond 1996. In another cost-cutting measure, GM is planning to delay redesigns of three other mid-size cars--Pontiac Grand Prix, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and Buick Regal--for one year until 1997, according to a report in Automotive News.
