Leslie’s Poolmart Profit Up 8% for the Quarter
Leslie’s Poolmart Inc., which operates a chain of swimming pool supply stores, said its third-quarter profit rose 8% from a year earlier on a 19% increase in sales.
The Chatsworth-based company said net income in the three months ended Sept. 30 climbed to $2.13 million from $1.98 million a year earlier, while its sales rose to $32 million from $26.8 million. Same-store sales--those of stores open at least a year--rose 4% in the latest quarter.
For the first nine months of this year, Leslie’s profit jumped 74%, to $3.87 million from $2.22 million a year earlier, and its nine-month sales were up 16%, to $84.6 million from $72.9 million. The year-earlier profit was reduced by a one-time, $1.8-million charge.
Leslie’s currently operates 144 stores in 26 states and also sells its products through a mail-order catalogue.
