Thousands Expected at Christmas Parade

Organizers of the 43rd annual Fabulous Holiday Christmas Lane Parade anticipate a turnout of at least 250,000 people for the event today at 1 p.m.

The parade will feature more than 50 celebrities, including actor Cheech Marin, who will serve as grand marshal. Others include actress Rosetta LeNoire of ABC-TV’s “Family Matters,” actor Steve Burton of the ABC soap “General Hospital,” and 1984 Olympic boxing gold medalist Paul Gonzales.

The parade will travel south from Pacific Boulevard and Randolph Street to Florence Avenue, then west to Rugby Avenue, and will feature floats sponsored by local businesses.

Fourteen marching bands from Los Angeles and Orange counties will take part.

Huntington Park and its Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring the parade, which will be televised on KVEA-TV Channel 52 at 2 p.m. on Dec. 6.
