Replanting Effort--The Orange County Harbors, Beaches and Parks Department is sponsoring a day of planting new vegetation at the 166-acre Yorba Regional Park on Saturday. Volunteers are needed to help plant a large number of native plants.

The area to be replanted lies between the Santa Ana River and the park’s four lakes.

Members of the Sierra Club, Friends of the Tecate Cypress and Tree Releaf groups will also participate.

Work will begin at 7 a.m.; post diggers are also needed. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and shovels.

When volunteers arrive at the park, they should tell the guards at the entrance kiosk they are there for the replanting effort, and the guards will direct them to the site and waive the park’s entrance fee.

Yorba Regional Park is at 7600 E. La Palma Ave., Anaheim.

A second planting day is planned for Dec. 5.

Doheny State Park Trip--The Sea & Sage chapter of the National Audubon Society will sponsor a field trip to the Doheny State Park area in Dana Point on Tuesday.

A variety of birds are found in the area this time of year, including herons, gulls, grebes, kingfishers and kites. Also, there’s a chance visiting warblers will be spotted.

The trip will begin at 8 a.m.

Participants are asked to bring binoculars, bird books and bird scopes if they have them.

Those who want to participate in the field trip are asked to meet at the parking lot next to the Dana Point Marine Institute on Dana Point Harbor Drive.

For more information call the chapter office at (714) 261-7963.

San Juan Creek Trip--South Coast Audubon is hosting a trip to San Juan Creek in San Juan Capistrano on Saturday.

While the group has sponsored trips to the mouth of the creek before, it will be the first time a bird walk farther inland on the creek will be included.
