Ford Chief Expects Fourth-Quarter Loss: Ford Motor Co. Chairman Harold Poling said the company will probably lose money in the fourth quarter due to weakness in its Western European car markets. When asked if the losses Ford incurred in the third quarter would extend into the final quarter of the year, Poling said “my expectation at the present time is that they probably would.” The No. 2 car maker lost $159 million in the third quarter. Poling said Ford will be looking at accelerating its restructuring in Europe to reduce costs.
