They’ve had to skip the push-up bras and centerfolds, but outlets of sex-marketing giant Playboy Enterprises are multiplying like rabbits across politically puritanical China.

Growing numbers of fashion-conscious--and increasingly free-spending--Chinese are scurrying to buy slacks, shirts, jackets and sneakers bearing Playboy’s “rabbit head” logo.

In just three years, 30 Playboy sales counters have opened in 13 provinces from Hainan island in the south to Harbin near the northern border with Russian Siberia. Sales in 1992 are expected to reach $3.9 million.
