Robert Wheeler Parker, Longtime Physician

Services have been held for Dr. Robert Wheeler Parker, who was a family practitioner in Reseda for nearly 50 years.

He was 86.

Parker died Nov. 12 of heart failure, said Robert Merrill Parker of Valencia, his son.

Parker, who was born in Shreveport, La., earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Missouri and worked as a field geologist for the Arkansas-Louisiana Gas Co.

He came to California in the late 1930s and graduated from the College of Physicians and Osteopathic Surgeons in Los Angeles.

In 1940, he opened his medical office in Reseda and practiced there until he retired five years ago.

Parker was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Reseda and several medical associations.

In addition to his son, Parker is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eleanor Parker; daughter Suzanne Sutton of Northridge, and three grandchildren.

Burial was held last week in Parker’s hometown. Lorenzen Mortuary in Reseda handled the arrangements.
