Southland Gas Station Operators Sue Chevron: Eighteen dealers filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit in San Diego, charging Chevron with trying to squeeze service stations out of business by overcharging for gasoline and rent. Customers end up paying too much for gasoline as a result, according to the dealers, who own or have interests in 33 Southern California service stations. The suit alleges that Chevron has violated California antitrust laws and the federal Consumers Motor Fuel Protection Act. “Our price to the dealers is a fair and competitive price,” Chevron spokesman Mike Libbey said. “It makes no sense for us to gouge our own dealers.”
