A five-kilometer run and walk Saturday, Dec. 12, in Santa Clarita will be one of four family events planned for that day in commemoration of the city’s fifth anniversary.
The events, which are scheduled between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Old Orchard Park, 25023 Avenida Rotella, also will include a “frolic in the snow” at 8:30 a.m., when tons of fresh snow will be transported to a play area; an arts and crafts festival at 9 a.m., featuring the works of 75 people, and entertainment at 10:30 a.m. and noon by the Mums, a juggling and fire-eating troupe. The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra and a local children’s singing group also will perform.
All events are free, except for the run and walk, which requires a $12 fee, officials said. Each participant will receive a T-shirt. The city’s actual anniversary date is Dec. 15.
