Talk about gridlock in Washington.

Several streets were closed Monday morning as the Capitol Christmas tree, protected by a seven-car police motorcade, made its way across town.

The 62-foot, white spruce bound for the Capitol and 60 smaller trees for federal buildings were cut in Minnesota’s Chippewa National Forest and packed onto a flatbed. The three-day trip included an appearance in Chicago’s Thanksgiving parade.
