Bystander Deaths in Police Pursuits

Share

Citizens should know that police often don’t use their red lights, siren or even headlights when engaging in high-speed pursuits. Very often, this causes deadly accidents; there’s no real advantage--the suspect already knows he’s being chased.

Also, even though fire engines go much slower than police cars, many cities give them the power to control traffic lights in their path. Police cars are not given this capability, even though they cause far more accidents.
