Chemistry Professor Awarded $60,000 Grant

Share

Occidental College chemistry professor Donald Deardorff has been selected as one of eight Camille and Henry Dreyfus Scholars for 1992.

A $60,000 grant from the private Dreyfus Foundation will help Deardorff continue his research developing synthetic nucleosides, or antibodies, that will be more resistant to disease, and will enable him to appoint a Dreyfus Fellow to help with research and gain experience teaching.

Deardorff has been at Occidental since 1981. The scholar/fellow program is designed to attract Ph.D. recipients to careers at undergraduate schools.
