ABC School District : Tuesday Night Tutoring at High School Library

Share

District students who have difficulty with homework or who just want to study harder may receive free tutoring one night a week.

The program, in its second year, will begin Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Cerritos High School Library. Students are asked to bring their books and any assignments given by their teachers.

Community leaders, teachers and parents will volunteer their time to tutor fourth- through 12th-graders from 6:30 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday night until the end of the school year.

“It really focuses the student on the concept of homework and the importance of it, and the student is surrounded by other students and parents that are sending the same message,” district spokeswoman Helen Fried said.

Students are grouped by age and subject, and some are tutored individually, Fried said.

Last year, Fried estimated that more than 80 students received tutoring through the districtwide program.
