Share

The Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, the group charged with disseminating surplus funds from the 1984 Olympics, has awarded a total of $109,716 to six more youth sports programs as part of a pledge to give $1 million to such programs in areas hit by last spring’s riots.

This brings to $259,745 the funds earmarked so far in the program.

The largest grant--$83,470--went to the ADAGE (Alternatives for Drug and Gang Elimination) youth development program serving 17 junior high and middle schools. Smaller grants went to the Midtown Bowling Center, the Baldwin Hills Football Assn., the Wilshire Youth Athletic Club, the Woodcrest Generals Pop Warner Football Assn. and the Stentorians, a group of African-American firefighters.
