DEDICATION CELEBRATION: Members of the First United Methodist Church of Reseda will celebrate their newly renovated sanctuary and offices at the 8:45 and 10 a.m. services Sunday. An open house will follow each of the services and the public is invited. At 7 p.m., the Chancel Choir will be joined by the Bell Choir in presenting “A Christmas Message.” The church is situated at 18120 Saticoy St.

HOLIDAY PROGRAM: “Seasons Readings,” a selection of holiday stories and poems from authors including T.S. Eliot and Ray Bradbury, will be presented at 7 p.m. Sunday at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 10347 Mason St., Chatsworth. Readers will include actors Stephen Furst and Richard Moll, in addition to Yeardley Smith, the voice of Lisa on “The Simpsons” television show. A donation is asked at the door and will be used to support Lutheran Social Services in the San Fernando Valley.

INTERFAITH COUPLES: A discussion for family members of interfaith couples will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Valley Beth Shalom, 15739 Ventura Blvd., Encino. Rabbi Stewart Vogel and Sally Weber, director of Jewish Family Service of the San Fernando Valley, will lead the dialogue.

DISCUSSION: Rabbi Daniel Gordis will hold a discussion titled “The December Dilemma.” The topic will be discussed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Adat Ari El, 12020 Burbank Blvd., North Hollywood.

FAMILY DINNER: Rabbi Harold Schulweis of Valley Beth Shalom is offering four family Shabbat experiences beginning Friday. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a traditional Sabbath dinner with the rabbi, including songs and a discussion of “Ruth, the Jew by Choice and Her Husband: Mixed Marriages.” Families are then invited to share Friday evening services together. Additional Friday night dinners for families are planned Jan. 8, Feb. 12 and March 12. Dinners are $15 each for adults and $10 each for children. Reservations for Friday’s dinner, due Monday, can be made by calling (818) 788-6000. The Conservative synagogue is situated at 15739 Ventura Blvd., Encino.

SENIOR SHABBAT: Senior citizens are invited to attend a Shabbat dinner at 6:30 p.m. Friday at North Valley Jewish Community Center, 16601 Rinaldi St., Granada Hills. Cost is $6 for members of the Senior Friendship Club and $7.50 for guests. Reservations can be made by calling (818) 360-2211.
