An Oldsmobile Is Not a Step Up From Saturn

I read in your Business section (“The Maverick Who’s Trying to Get More of the Herd to Buy Olds,” Nov. 16) that John Rock, general manager of General Motors’ Oldsmobile division, believes that Oldsmobiles are the cars for Saturn buyers to “move up to.”

I say to Mr. Rock: The Saturn buyers I know, including myself, would consider even Cadillac a definite move down in quality, reliability and service.

Until GM really gets its act together, the only way for a Saturn buyer to move up is to buy a new Saturn, or visit a Lexus dealer. As for myself, I’ll stay with Saturn, very happily.
