Pasadena : Trial Set in Murder Case
A 31-year-old Pasadena man accused of locking his girlfriend’s father in a car trunk for 12 hours before killing him, then driving the body around for four days, has been ordered to stand trial for murder.
At a preliminary hearing in Van Nuys Municipal Court, police alleged that Anthony E. West admitted murdering 90-year-old Louie Molduf after the older man threatened to press charges against him for forging $25,000 in checks on his bank account.
West, who was dating Molduf’s daughter, Diane, 45, eventually dumped the body Sept. 18 in a parking lot at Toluca Lake Elementary School in North Hollywood, police said.
After hearing an audiotape in which West admitted killing Molduf, Judge Leslie Dunn on Wednesday ordered West bound over to Superior Court for trial. If convicted, he could be sentenced to death, prosecutors said.
