NBC to Receive Letterman Proposal: David Letterman and his agent are expected to present, possibly as early as today, an offer to woo away the late-night talk show host from NBC. CBS is said to be the leading candidate. Letterman, whose show has been the linchpin for NBC’s late-night schedule, has been in discussion with potential suitors for a better time period than his current 12:30 a.m. slot. Under an agreement reached last month, NBC allowed Letterman to negotiate with other parties in exchange for extending his commitment to stay at NBC from April until June, 1993. NBC has the right to match any competing offer. Letterman and his agent, Creative Artists Agency, were expected to reach a decision on which offer to present to NBC over the weekend. Spokespersons for CBS and CAA declined comment.
