A Casitas Springs man died in a car accident Monday that may have occurred after the driver suffered a heart attack, said a California Highway Patrol spokesman.
The 43-year-old man, whose identity was being withheld, apparently suffered a heart attack and crashed into the center divider of southbound California 33 near Shell Road about 12:35 p.m., the spokesman said.
Rescue workers attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at Ventura County Medical Center at 1:55 p.m., he said. No other vehicles or people were involved in the crash, the spokesman said.
An autopsy may be performed today to determine the cause of death.
