1989 Rosemount Cabernet Sauvignon, Show Reserve ($15)-- An excellent example of a top-rate Australian red wine, now available in the United States. Winemaker Philip Shaw has fashioned a delicious, deeply fruity yet stylishly silky red wine with fine cherry/cedar notes in the aroma and faint green peppercorn in the aftertaste. Rosemount is located in Australia’s upper Hunter River Valley, but also owns a vineyard in the cooler Coonawarra, where the grapes for this wine were grown.
