Culver City : Bus Facility Site Selection

Share

Culver City officials selected four sites to study as possible locations for a new bus transportation facility.

The $19-million facility would serve as the administrative and maintenance center for the Culver CityBus line and would also be used by the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT). Culver City is pursuing the joint-use project in order to qualify for federal assistance.

Council members approved paying a consultant $148,586 to prepare an environmental impact report that will examine the effects of building the bus yard on each of the sites. It will take about one year to complete a draft EIR, City Transportation Director David Ashcraft said.

The council also approved spending $50,000 on a consultant to involve the community in deciding which site will be selected.

The proposed lots are about seven acres each and are located as follows: 9930 Jefferson Blvd; between Eastham Drive, Stellar Drive and National Boulevard; between Sepulveda and Jefferson boulevards at Selmaraine Drive; and between Washington and Venice boulevards at the Exposition Boulevard right of way.

In addition, council members asked staff to check the feasibility of using a site in the city of Los Angeles between Rodeo Drive and National Boulevard at Jefferson.

The current 4.2-acre Culver CityBus site at 9815 Jefferson Blvd. cannot meet growth demands, Ashcraft said.
