FTC Staff Calls Microsoft Anti-Competitive: Federal Trade Commission investigators have concluded that the nation’s largest software maker engaged in anti-competitive behavior, Business Week reported in its Dec. 28 issue. Microsoft, based in Redmond, Wash., called the article “highly speculative.” The FTC’s Bureau of Competition said Microsoft won 95% of the market for operating system software for IBM-type personal computers through overly aggressive licensing arrangements and other tactics, the magazine said.
