Hughes Lands Kuwait Radar Job: Hughes Aircraft Co. won a $92-million contract to build a radar system for Kuwait that will give it advance warning of aerial attack, the El Segundo-based company said. Kuwait’s previous system was looted by the Iraqis during the Persian Gulf War. Dan Reeder, spokesman for Hughes, said the contract will help preserve 35 to 40 jobs at Hughes Fullerton, which has seen its work force drop from about 15,000 in 1986 to about 7,000 now.
