Gays and Sex in the Military

In response to “Of Tailhooks, Gays and Military Men,” Commentary, Dec. 11:

“Sex is an inappropriate topic for workplace conversations”?? What perpendicular universe does Sally Connell come from? Of course sex is an appropriate topic! It always has been and always will be. See, that’s the problem with these fanatics who get up on their high horse about some social, environmental or political problem; they have no sense of proportion that reins them in before they utter some sheer nonsense like that.

Connell would have us alter human nature or at least alter our social structure and our culture’s courtship rituals just because some among us abuse the rules of proper behavior? That’s called throwing the baby out with the bath water.

What silliness will come next--making us all wear seat belts in cars or wear helmets on motorcycles because some are too irresponsible to buy insurance?
