NEWPORT BEACH : Walrus Run Will Be Held Thursday
Wimps are being asked to stay away from the seventh annual Walrus Run on Thursday.
Joggers will run 1 1/2 miles from the Newport Beach Athletic Club at Fashion Island to Corona del Mar State Beach, where they end with a swim in the ocean. The event will start at 7 a.m.
“It’s not a race,” said Walrus Run chairman Rudy Svrcek. “It’s just a friendly jog to raise money for the needy during this Christmas holiday.”
Proceeds received from entry fees will go to the Orange Coast Interfaith Shelter in Costa Mesa. The shelter is a nonprofit transitional program that provides homeless and low-income families with one-bedroom apartments for 60 days, food, job counseling and emotional support.
