Bishop Inc. Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Bishop Inc., a Westlake Village provider of engineering/design computers and supplies, has filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the federal bankruptcy laws.

In its filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles, Bishop listed assets of $1.22 million and debts of $1.82 million. Under Chapter 11, a company continues operating but is protected from creditors’ claims while it works out a plan to pay its debts.

Bishop, with 31 employees, lost $560,000 in the nine months that ended June 30, while its sales dropped 25% for the period from a year earlier, to $6.8 million.

(In the bankruptcy listings published in The Times on Dec. 15, Bishop Inc. was incorrectly listed as having filed Chapter 7 protection, instead of Chapter 11.)
