Abortion Case Deliberations

I’m not surprised at the logic of members of the Supreme Court, that temple where the high priests serve for years beyond senility. O’Connor resorts to slogans--”since when can the government tell married couples what they must discuss.” What if the husband has AIDS? Souter believes “legitimacy of the court depends on adherence to precedent.” What about the Dred Scott decision? And Kennedy wants “to define liberty for all, not mandate our own moral code.” What about stealing and killing?

The structure of the U.S. government was prepared in the 18th Century and it will not serve in the 21st Century--especially the terms of Supreme Court justices and their power to usurp prerogatives never intended. It’s time for a change. We need a constitutional convention now.
