Ahmanson and Soka Projects

Much has been said and written regarding the physical aspects of the Ahmanson Ranch proposal and its tangible impacts, but there is an impact that is not as tangible or easy to define.

We in Southern California have for the most part abandoned any real sense of community. Many of us do not even know our neighbors’ names. It certainly is not that we do not live close together. It is that we often live with no sense of community pride, responsibility or fellowship. We live in homes that are only physically close to our neighbors.

The Ahmanson Ranch proposal has a wonderful sense of community to it. There are places for people to gather, to walk, to mingle, to enjoy the air and the surrounding hills and watch the sun set. The design is user-friendly; it promotes an atmosphere in which you can feel good about meeting your neighbors, taking a stroll in the evening or going shopping without your car.
