Disturbance at Riot Site

Don Jackson is trying to turn logic on its head with his whining rationalization for actions of the defendants in the Reginald Denny beating (Commentary, Dec. 18).

Jackson’s assertion that blacks are routinely denied equal justice is yet another example of the “victimization” defense, which seems to be gaining credibility among liberals. The argument goes like this; black men who viciously beat someone because he is white should be exonerated, and even lauded, while no white police officer is ever justified in arresting or attempting to subdue a hostile black person.

It appears that Jackson will not approve of any criminal prosecution of any black person, regardless of circumstance, until our institutions can somehow meet his inarticulate criteria for balance. Sadly, all victims of crime are the real losers in this scenario.
