Greece Trying to Block Macedonia Recognition

ATHENS —
Greece said Sunday that it will try to stop the U.N. Security Council from recognizing the former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia, which it accuses of harboring expansionist ambitions.
Foreign Minister Mihalis Papaconstantinou said Greece is launching a campaign of diplomatic shuttles and letter-writing to try to deny Macedonia the nine or more “yes” votes it needs in the 15-member Security Council for recognition.
