Slain Man Needed Help

A deranged man under the influence of alcohol and PCP assaults his own mother and others before his mother calls the Police Department for help.

The police arrive and he assaults one officer knocking his baton from his hands.

Then one of your readers has the gall to write in stating that “one officer should hand his firearm to the other officer and take a deadly weapon away from Lopez.”

This is reality, not the movies. All police are not martial arts experts and they do not have any magical weapons.

Police do not get paid to street fight.

These officers did everything they could do without risking others lives.

It is time that we stop treating the police like suspects and start treating them like we appreciate them for putting their lives on the line for us every day.
