Two hiring officials from employers that rank among the largest in Ventura County will offer advice to job-seekers next week during a cable television show called “Creative Solutions for the Unemployed.”

“Ventura Today,” a program that airs on three local cable stations, will run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The show features a half-hour panel discussion on how the unemployed can best prepare themselves for the job hunt.

Ronald Komers, director of personnel for Ventura County, and Charles Padilla, vice president of human resources at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, will offer their perspectives on unemployment in the county and tell, among other things, how job-seekers can ensure that they make the right first impression in interviews.

“First we address the basic question of whether unemployment is increasing or decreasing,” Komers said of the show. “Then we look at if you are unemployed, what are some of the creative resources available to help you get a job.”

Komers and Padilla, who will explain the criteria they use in choosing among job candidates, will be joined on the panel by Priscilla McDaniels, a corporate relations expert with the Job Training Partnership Council, and Avelina Villalobos, manager of the Employment Development Department.

McDaniels and Villalobos will detail what their organizations can and cannot do to assist job hunters.

The show is slated to air Monday at 6 p.m. on Oxnard-based Jones Intercable, Channel 19. The show will air Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. on Ventura County Cablevision, Channel 8 in the cities of Camarillo, Fillmore and Santa Paula. Thursday’s airing will be at 7 p.m. on Channel 6, Avenue TV Cable Service Inc. in Ventura.
