Two gunmen forced a man into his own car, demanded his wallet and clothes and, in an ensuing struggle, shot him in the leg and escaped, police said Wednesday.

The victim, Ich Duc Ta, 27, of Huntington Beach, drove himself to a Fountain Valley hospital after the Tuesday night abduction and assault, police said.

Ta was treated for his bullet wound, said a spokeswoman for Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center.

The two gunmen remain at large, said Sgt. Mike Mittelstaedt.

Police said the confrontation began shortly after 9 p.m. as Ta walked from the Shotgun club in a strip mall near Bolsa Avenue and Bushard Street. Two men approached Ta and ordered him to get into his car, which was parked nearby, Mittelstaedt said.

One man got into the driver’s seat, his accomplice got into the back seat and Ta sat in the front passenger’s seat, police said.

While driving south, the men ordered Ta to take out his wallet and remove his clothes. The Huntington Beach man complied, placing his wallet on the dashboard and stripping to his underwear, police said.

During the drive, Ta reached into the back seat and began struggling with one of the men, police said. During the struggle, the driver shot Ta in the left leg.

The two abductors then fled from the car, and in the commotion left Ta’s wallet.
