Ventura : Exxon Gives $1,000 to Literacy Program
Laubach Literacy of Ventura County has been named the recipient of a $1,000 grant from Exxon, Laubach officials said.
The oil giant gave the organization the grant as part of a program aimed at encouraging its employees to become volunteers. The grant was made in support of Exxon employee Deborah Gentry, who serves on the Laubach board and is chairwoman of its administration committee, officials said.
Gentry also is a certified Laubach tutor and has been teaching reading for more than a year, Laubach officials said.
Laubach Literacy, offers tutoring services and tutor training.
