2 Sides on the Mini-City

Share

What do Bob Hope, Pete Wilson and Ahmanson Land Co. have in common? They all want to see our tax dollars buy “donated” parkland.

What do the Ventura County planning staff, Planning Commission, General Plan, Calabasas, Los Angeles Sierra Club and other environmental groups have in common? They all reject the concept of a mini-city being developed on land set aside and zoned for open space.

Who financially gains from this trade of “donated” parkland for this extension of the San Fernando Valley?

The vocal minority that supports this billion-dollar construction project.

Who loses?

People who treasure the open space greenbelt of hills separating the San Fernando and Conejo valleys, wildlife, 1,300 oak trees, people who use the Ventura Freeway and will breathe increased air pollution, and people who will pay greater increases in their water bills because the limited supply of water will be shared by 3,050 homes, shopping centers, schools, government buildings and golf courses that were never anticipated.

The Ahmanson Ranch mini-city must be stopped.
