The Ventura County Medical Society Auxiliary has set a March 1 deadline to apply for health career scholarships offered by the group this year.
The scholarships are available to Ventura County students who plan to enroll in medical training programs or are already students in such programs, spokeswoman Jessica Bessette said.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic ability, character and financial need. Members of the Ventura County Medical Society and their families are not eligible.
The auxiliary has awarded scholarships for 41 years and last year donated $7,700 in grants from $200 to $1,000 to six new recipients and seven continuing students.
Winners of the scholarships will be announced in June.
