GOOD POLICY: Newport Beach-based Pacific Mutual Life Insurance launched a new subsidiary Monday, the successor of First Capital Life, which failed and was seized by the Department of Insurance in May, 1991 (D5). Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi said he hopes to see more women and minorities in the industry. Roller downplayed gender, calling it “a great opportunity” for anyone. Still, she said, “If it inspires other women, then that’s good.”
