BUCKLE UP: Local California Highway Patrol troopers handed out at least 185 tickets to drivers not wearing seat belts over the three-day holiday weekend. CHP spokeswoman Angel Johnson said they began enforcement “the very minute” the tougher seat belt law took effect Jan. 1. And she credits a drunk-driving crackdown with this good news: no traffic fatalities.
