Alpha Microsystems: The Santa Ana computer system and software developer reported a profit of $261,000, or 9 cents a share, on revenue of $10.8 million for its fiscal third quarter ended Nov. 29. That compares to a profit of $39,000, or 1 cent a share, on revenue of $12.5 million for the previous year’s third quarter. Douglas J. Tullio, president and chief executive, said the lower revenue was caused in part by the disposition of the company’s unprofitable Italian and French subsidiaries, and partly by lower prices of hardware systems. For the nine-month period, Alpha Microsystems reported a net loss of $4 million, or $1.34 a share, contrasted with net income of $278,000, or 9 cents a share, for the corresponding period last year. Sales declined 4%, to $35.5 million from $36.9 million.
