Arcadia : City Won’t OK Magazine
The City Council on Tuesday declined to endorse a magazine on the history of Arcadia to be distributed free of charge by a Whittier publisher.
“If I were going to do a historical thing on Arcadia, this is not the way I would do it,” Mayor George Fasching said as he examined versions of the glossy magazines produced for other cities.
Council members voiced concern that a council endorsement might be used to sell advertisements.
Publisher Dan Teckenoff said the magazine has been endorsed by the city’s historical council and Chamber of Commerce. About 20,000 copies will be distributed to area homes.
