Laurence Marks; Radio, Television Writer

Laurence Marks, who wrote for radio and television shows, has died at a Van Nuys hospital. He was 77.

A Valencia resident, Marks died Friday of complications of a stroke, said his wife, Nora Marks.

Born on Long Island, N.Y., Marks wrote for radio in New York before coming to California in the early 1940s. In Los Angeles, he wrote for many television programs, including “The Jack Paar Show,” “The Donna Reed Show,” “Hogan’s Heroes” and “MASH.” Marks had been honored during his career by the Writers Guild of America.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years. Funeral arrangements are pending.

The Neptune Society in Burbank is handling the arrangements. Contributions can be made in Marks’ name to the Arthritis Foundation, Stroke Assn. of Southern California or a charity of the donor’s choice.
