Arrest of Groom

Share

I was troubled by the story of the couple who had their New Year’s Eve wedding spoiled by the groom’s unjustified arrest (Jan. 2). The officials in charge said they had “interfered” with the nuptials. “Interfered,” my foot! Try “ruined.” One could see all the planning involved with the guests, chapel, minister, gown--and the romantic high hopes of scheduling the ceremony for New Year’s Eve.

How inglorious to have one’s dreams dashed and have to be married in the dreary hall of a police station by a minister who couldn’t remember his own lines or even the exchange of rings.

I share the bride’s anger. I think the Los Angeles Police Department owes this couple a real wedding and a honeymoon thrown in for good measure!
