WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Woods Has 21 to Lead Trojans

Jualeah Woods scored 18 of her personal-best 21 points in the second half to lead USC to an 86-72 victory over Arizona State on Saturday night at Tempe.

The game was tied, 37-37, at halftime, but the No. 16-ranked Trojans started the second half with a 10-2 run as Woods made back-to-back three-pointers and Nicole McCrimmon scored four points. McCrimmon finished with a personal-best 17 points.

The Trojans, 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Pacific 10 Conference, are off to their best start since 1986 when they reached the Final Four.

Arizona State is 7-3 and 0-2.

UCLA 91, Arizona 77--Natalie Williams scored 29 points and had 10 rebounds, both game-highs, to lead the Bruins past the Wildcats before a crowd of 2,846 at McKale Center in Tucson.

Williams, who has had at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in all seven games she has played this season, led four Bruins in double figures. Nicole Anderson and Amy Jalewalia had season-highs with 19 and 16 points, respectively, and freshman Michelle Palmisano added 14.

UCLA (7-4 overall, 2-0 in the Pac-10), has won six games in a row for the first time since the 1987-88 season.

Arizona is 5-5 and 0-2.
