RELIGION AND POLITICS

Share

The Christian Coalition is focused on voter registration and education, not direct political action. It is not allowed to support, endorse or raise money for candidates for office and cannot attach wages for a contribution to a political action committee--although labor unions engage in such practices all the time.

Why should the Christian conservative movement be singled out for its non-direct political action? All we did was put on political leadership schools, conduct registration drives, produce guides that show where candidates stood on the issues and encourage people to vote. By contrast, the National Assn. of Social Workers attaches political contributions from its members’ dues without the members’ permission. Where is the real conspiracy in American politics?

Christian Americans only want to have their taxes lowered, see their kids educated and have crime stopped. And they want to see America as the economic powerhouse it should be.
