Debate Over Whaling Industry

It is definitely cause for celebration to have the gray whale populations restored to such abundant, healthy numbers (“Gray Whale Dropped From Endangered List,” Dec. 31). Since Mexico is constantly bashed about its environmental problems, it was nice to see it get credit for protecting the vital whale breeding habitat in Baja California. Mexico made a real commitment to the project and stood by that commitment year after year. Thank you, Mexico, for your efforts.
