One of the founders of Catalina Marketing Corp., Chairman Michael R. O’Brien, has resigned but will continue to serve as a consultant, the supermarket coupon company said Tuesday.
Chief Executive Tommy Greer will succeed O’Brien while keeping his current post. Greer joined Catalina in 1988, when he came out of retirement to become Catalina’s president.
O’Brien, 49, said in a statement that he feels he has met his goals for Catalina, an Anaheim-based maker of computers that print instant coupons for supermarket customers.
“With a solid, experienced management team in place and strong sales and earnings momentum, the time is now right for me to pursue my other interests,” O’Brien said.
O’Brien has no immediate plans for another venture, a company spokesman said.
