TECHNOLOGY : FileNet Unveils Document-Processing Software That Reduces Paperwork Tasks

Share

FileNet Corp. in Costa Mesa has launched its FolderView document processing software after more than two years of development and testing.

The software, which runs under Microsoft Windows and FileNet’s own operating environment, is aimed at making white-collar workers more productive by automating many of their paperwork tasks.

Jordan Libit, vice president of marketing, estimated that FolderView could add about $2 million in annual revenue to the company in 1993.

FolderView is more sophisticated than earlier FileNet software because it helps workers navigate through large, complicated paperwork tasks and adapt the software for personalized work styles.

Previous FileNet software has been useful in structured, repetitive tasks such as clerical and administrative work, Libit said. But FolderView can be used for complicated insurance and loan underwriting tasks, as well as managerial duties.

The announcement is timely because FileNet expects FolderView and other software products to drive revenue growth in the future.

FolderView software is priced at $795 for each computer terminal. FileNet has tested the software for the past six months at six customer sites. The company has shipped about 350 copies to date, Libit said.
