FCC OKs New Satellite Paging: The Federal Communications Commission paved the way for new satellite message paging services. The commission set aside a small portion of the radio spectrum for the new services that will use low-orbiting satellites to send messages of up to 100 characters anywhere in the world for less than a nickel. Other uses for the new paging services include tracking fleets of trucks and finding stolen vehicles. The FCC is expected to award operating licenses for the services by the end of this year allowing the winners to launch their satellites by the end of 1994.
